"It's Time for the Cross"
By Holly Chanel Haggerty
Today we would like to reflect on the Cross of Jesus Christ. Many are searching for answers to problems and situations in their lives and don't know where to turn but The Cross that Jesus bore over 2,000 years is the answer.
When you look at the Cross, you can reflect on the crucifixion of Jesus and what he went through in Matthew 27:31-43. Jesus went to the cross for all Humanity because Father God instructed him.
Many times in our lives, we go through much and wonder why did this happen to us? Only God in heaven has the answers to many questions we may have. However, He sent his one and only Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Family and friends may not understand your circumstances but here is only one guarantee and that is Jesus knows your every concern and Father God.
I looked up in Webster dictionary and the Cross is defined as a symbolic representation of the structure in which Jesus Christ was crucified. Alternatively, trial or affliction. What does the cross mean in and individual's life today. I think of God's word. I personally go to my bible and look up in my concordance Cross and many references appear. One scripture that has stayed with my spirit from 1989 to present, is Matthew 16:24, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."
I interviewed individuals and asked them what does the Cross mean to you? It meant the ultimate sacrifice in redeeming man from the death sentence of sin finally. Putting man back into that relationship whereby we can call God Father. This is the ultimate sacrifice of God giving His only begotten Son to the world. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Asking the question: Is it time for the Cross? The response was yes the Cross of Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. Not just any cross not an empty cross or empty tomb for He is Risen that is the gospel, death, burial and resurrection.
